Booked patients and walk-ins share the same day but not the same mental model. Appointments have a time; walk-ins have a place in line. Mixing them on one list is how reception loses trust with both groups.

Simple floor rules

   Confirm → checked in → with doctor → complete.

   Add walk-ins to queue

   Issue a token; call next when a room frees.

   Communicate wait

   Tell walk-ins an honest range; update if the doctor runs long.
